Frankly, I have no idea how this "business" can even operate legally. The first clue that it doesn't is that its webpage isn't registered with the extension ".hr", which all legal businesses in Croatia should be having. The second clue is that there are no warning signs when you approach it through mountain trails, no demarcations, no fences. In other words - no safety measures. If you happen to stumble across an ongoing paintball session, no one will chase you away - because they have no right to. They may politely tell you that it's dangerous to stick around, due to the rogue paintballs flying in all directions, but do they care if you get hit? No. The "field" is situated within the ruins of the fabled Brestovac Sanatorium, which is regarded as a cultural heritage site. Why Brestovac hasn't been reconstructed and given a new function, after it had been abandoned as a hospital for decades, is another story. But to have it as a backdrop to "urban warfare" games, and deny the common folk a chance to visit and admire the ancient landmark and pay respect to people that died there (yes, it's also a hallowed ground) - is a huge disrespect and a slap in the face of history and common decency. Not to mention that Medvednica is a Nature park, which is, institution-wise, only one step away from the status a National park. It's no place for a bunch of military wannabes, weekend warriors and other fakeheads running around, shooting each other in the face with balls of paint and endangering the passersby. If you want that kind of "adrenaline rush", go ahead and join the army. Leave Medvednica alone.
